We are now in July 8 2020. And we though June was bad. I’ll take February for my favorite month of this year. Looking back isn’t going to help although it is a pleasant memory. The old saying, “It could be worse”, seems to be true. That is the future and today is where I’m at. So I’ll focus on that. It’s Be a Kid Again Day, Math 2.0 Day, National Freezer Pop Day, National Ice Cream Sundae Day and National Milk Chocolate with Almonds Day. An ice cream sundae sounds good to me. Maybe later today. I’ll wager that you didn’t know that on this day in 1693 that New York City authorized the 1st police uniforms in American colonies. You probably didn’t know that on this day in 1796 the US State Department issues the 1st US passport. This is also the day in 1889 that the Wall Street Journal begins publishing. This is the day in 1913 that Alfred Carlton Gilbert’s patent for the Erector Set is issued, it becomes one of the most popular toys of all time. Lastly, on this day in 1969 US troop withdrawal begins in Vietnam. Today is John D. Rockefeller’s birthday (1839). He was the founder of Standard Oil. I’ll give you two of his quotes because they are related. “Do you know the only thing that gives me pleasure? It’s to see my dividends coming in” and “It is wrong to assume that men of immense wealth are always happy.” John may have been rich but he wasn’t a Dude. This is also the day in 2012 that the actor Ernest Borgnine stopped living. I’ll give you two quotes from him: “My mother made me do all the housework as a boy. I still do it, even in hotels” and “To this day I clean better than most maids.” As they say, “That’s all folks.” Make to day a good one. Abide
