Monday is gone, Wednesday isn’t here yet so that means it’s Tuesday, July 28, 2020. If this were a highway, we’d see some dark clouds up ahead. Our States and major cities are running out of money. Now would be a good time to decide what kind of country we want to have instead of kicking the can down the road and hoping for the best. I wonder what the historians will say about this time? That’s the future and we’re in the present which happens to be Buffalo Soldiers Day, National Hamburger Day and National Milk Chocolate Day. I think I can do all three today. Listen to Bob Marley or sing it myself and have a burger and some chocolate for dessert. Sounds like a plan. This happens to be the day in 1794 that French Revolutionary figure Maximilien Robespierre and 22 other leaders of “the Reign of Terror” were guillotined to thunderous cheers of the people of Paris. During the Terrors, 17,000 people had been executed, and 10,000 had died in prison. On this day in 1900 hamburger is created by Louis Lassing. This is also the day in 1917 that the “Silent Parade” of 10,000 African-Americans marches on 5th Ave in NYC to protest lynching. And this is the day in 1932 That President Hoover uses federal troops to evict the Bonus Army which is WWI veterans and their families from their encampment in Washington DC. Four die. This is the day in 1902 that the philosopher Karl Popper was born. Karl said, “Our knowledge can only be finite, while our ignorance must necessarily be infinite.” That reminds me of the African Proverb that says “A wise man never knows all, only a fool knows everything”. That should be enough for this day. Stay safe. Wear the damn mask and Abide. Here’s a little Marley to get your day started.
