This day is March 27, 2024. I’m going to start this post with a suggestion: Get in the habit of making a daily affirmation as part of your morning routine. It works. It sets your mind in a positive direction. Saying them is good, writing them down is better. Search on “Daily Affirmatios” and do a little research. I think you’ll find it a benefit. Today we celebrate International Scribble Day, National Spanish Paella Day, National Joe Day and Quirky Country Music Song Titles Day, World Theatre Day, Little Red Wagon Day, and Manatee Appreciation Day. Now the history of March 27: On this day in 1513 Juan Ponce de Leon reached the coast of Florida. This is the day in 1790 that the modern shoelace was patented in England by Harvey Kennedy. On this day in 1866 President Andrew Johnson vetoed a civil rights bill which later became the 14th amendment and granted citizenship and equal civil and legal rights to African Americans. In 1912, this is the day that the 1st Japanese cherry blossom trees were planted in Washington, D.C. If you’ve never been there when they bloom, you’ve missed something special. On this day in 1915 Typhoid Mary (Mary Mallone) was arrested and returned to quarantine in New York after spending 5 years evading health authorities and causing outbreaks of typhoid. Finally, this is the day in 1980 that Mt. St. Helens erupted. This is another one of those days when I can’t find anyone who died on this day to quote. Plan B is to pick a subject and today it’s “Daily Affirmation”. “The secret of your future is hidden in your daily routine” Mike Murdock. “Right now, I am trying to be in a place of calm, a place where I can chill out and then handle the chaos of life better. You don’t just get it overnight, you have to work at it. It’s a daily struggle.” Jackee Harry. “Don’t forget to tell yourself positive things daily! You must love yourself internally to glow externally.” Hannah Bronfman. “We can bring positive energy into our daily lives by smiling more, talking to strangers in line, replacing handshakes with hugs, an calling our friends just to tell them we love them.” Brandon Jenner. Enough. Abide.
