This is the 24th day of April 2023. I ask this question frequently: Have you decided how this day will turn out? Since you are the only one who can decide what you think about, it’s mostly up to you. Just a reminder that you can take control of today. Buddha said “what you think, you become.” Today we have a short list of events: Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day, National Pigs-in-a-Blanket Day, New Kids on the Block Day, World Day for Laboratory Animals and World Meningitis Day. The winner here is obvious. Now, onto history: On this day in 1184 BC the Greeks entered Troy using the Trojan Horse. On tis day in 1288 the Jews of Troyes France were accused of ritual murder. This probably didn’t turn out well for the Jews of Troyes France. On this day in 1800 the Library of Congress was established with a %5,000 allocation. On this day in 1867 Black demonstrators staged ride-ins on Richmond Virginia streetcars. This is the day in 1898 that Spain declared war on the US after rejecting the US ultimatum to withdraw from Cuba. On this day in 1908 Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Murdock and their children departed LA in their Packard Thirty, to become the first family to travel across the US by car. They arrived in NYC 32 days, 5 hours and 25 minutes later. On this day in 1969 Paul McCarthey said that there was no truth to the rumor that he was dead. The English writer Daniel Defore was dead (April 24, 1731). Daniel said, “Fear of danger is ten thousand times more terrifying than the danger itself.” “It is never too late to be wise.” “All men would be tyrants if they could.” “All our discontents about what we want appeared to spring from the want of thankfulness for what we have.” I’ll end with “Though I don’t like the crew, I won’t sink the ship. In fact, in time of storm I’ll do my best to save it You see, we are all in this craft and must sink or swim together.” Have an excellent day. Abide.
