Last night it became the 7th day of the month of September 2021. It’s my 27,957th day of my life. You can find your number by asking your search engine “how many days since (your date of birth). That seems like a lot of days, but they go by way to quickly. How many I have lived isn’t that important. How many more I’ll get to live and what I will do with them is. This is also Grandma Moses Day, National Grateful Patient Day, National Beer Lover’s Day (my pick), Superhuman Day, National Feel The Love Day, National Acorn Squash Day and Salami Day. Lots of good stuff on this list. Now to the history of September 7th. On this day in 1812 the Battle of Borodino took place. Napoleon wins the day against the Russians. 70,000 soldiers died in this battle. Wow. On this day in 1813, “Uncle Sam” was first used as a term to refer to America. On this day in 1916 the Workmen’s Compensation Act was passed by Congress. On this day in 1954, integration began in Washington DC and in Baltimore Md. This is Grandma Moses birthday. She was born in 1860 and lived to be 101. She didn’t start to paint seriously until she was 78. She said, “I look back on my life like a good day’s work, it was done, and I am satisfied with it”. On this day in 1833 Hanna More stopped living. She was an English writer, philanthropist, poet and playwright. I’ll conclude this post an observation from her: “Sow an action, reap a habit”.  I guess that’s what I’m doing right now. Have a great day. It’s your decision. Abide.
