Ra will start his chariot ride across the sky of November 27th, 2021. The chaos continues across the world but in my small corner of it, all is well. I’ve decided that the glass is half full. I’m optimistic about myself and my family. Not so much about the world outside my small bubble. I refuse to let reality rain on my small parade. Now to the history of this day: On this day in 1807 the Portuguese Royal family and their court of 15,000 people left Lisbon for their colony in Brazil to escape Napoleon’s troops. On this day in 1868 General George Armstrong Custer attacked a group of Indians at the Washita River in Oklahoma killing their Chief Black Kettle and his wife. It’s an interesting read if you search on this battle. On this day in 1910 New York’s Penn Station opened. It was the largest terminal in the world. In 1924 on this day the first Macy’s Day Thanksgiving Parade was held. This is the day in 1941 that Russia started its counterattack on Nazi Germany. We like to believe that “we” won WWII. The most ferrous fighting was on the Eastern Front with Russia. On this day in 1957 the US Army left Little Rock Arkansas after the integration of Central High School. This also happens to be Bill Nye’s birthday. I think he’s great. Here are some pearls of wisdom: “Everyone you meet knows something that you don’t.” “We are just a speck, on a speck, orbiting a speck, in the corner of a speck, in the middle of nowhere.” I’ll end this post with this quote “Science is the key to our future.
