It’s October 2, 2020 and we didn’t have to wait too long for something we didn’t see coming to get here. trump has covid. Looks like the work of Captain Consequences. You put yourself in the middle of a large group of people, without masks and you might catch the bug. Now we see what happens. Probably no more debates. I admit I was looking forward to round 2 but as I’ve said before, I have a dark sense of humor. Let’s see what we’ve got for today: Guardian Angles Day, International Day of Non Violence Day, Kids Music Day, National Fired Scallops Day, National Name Your Car Day, World Smile Day, World Day For Farmed Animals Day and World No Alcohol Day (nope). I’ll go with my Guardian Angles. They’ve saved me several times. Now for some historical footnotes. On this day in 1795 Tula is sentenced to death on the island of Curacao which is near Aruba. Tula was a slave who freed himself and lead a rebellion against the slave owners. On this day in 1833 the New York Anti-Slavery Society is organized. In 1853 Austrian law forbids Jews from owning land. This is the day in 1895 that the 1st cartoon comic strip is printed in a newspaper. It would take 55 years (October 2, 1950) before “Peanuts” would be published. This is the birthday (1869) of Mahatma Gandhi. He is one of my favorite quote masters.
