The milepost reads 03.12.2021. Looks like today’s road is smooth and clear and fine for traveling on. The James Brown song “I feel good” comes to mind. Emily Dickenson said “Find ecstasy in life; the mere sense of living is joy enough”. We are alive. We get to live this day. That’s pretty cool. Today is Girl Scout Day, Middle Name Proud Day, National Plant A Flower Day, National Baked Scallops Day, National Working Moms Day and National Alfred Hitchcock Day. Now for some history. In 1496 all Jews were expelled from Syria. On this day in 1664 New Jersey became a British Colony. In 1894 on this date, Coca-Cola was sold in bottles for the first time in a candy store in Vicksburg, Mississippi. At that time, Coco-Cola had cocaine as an ingredient. In 1904, Andrew Carnegie established the Carnegie Hero Fund. The Fund recognized persons who performed acts of heroism and provided financial assistance to those disabled and the dependents of those killed saving others. Carnegie said, “Surplus wealth is a sacred trust which its possessor is bound to administer in his lifetime for the good of the community.” It would be nice if more billionaires thought this way. This is the day that Sir Terry Pratchett died. He was an English humorist and satirist. Terry said, “The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it.” This is also James Taylor’s birthday. James said, “The secret of life is enjoying the passage of time”. He also said, “I collect hats. That’s what you do when you’re bald”. Both of those quotes are true. That’s a wrap for this day. It’s going to be a good one. Enjoy it and Abide.
