It’s has become January 8th, 2021. My arm is sore where I received the vaccination and that’s fine with me. In a few weeks, I get the second dose and I am looking forward to the freedom it will bring. Doing what I took for granted 10 months ago will feel like a guilty pleasure now. Today it’s National English Toffee Day (my pick) Bubble Bath Day, National English Toffee Day, National Joy Germ Day, National Man Watcher’s Day (for the ladies) and War on Poverty Day. The very cool one is Joy Germ day which suggests that we infect everyone we meet with Joy by being positive and treating everyone with kindness. Everyday should be Joy Germ day. Now to history: On this day in 1815 Battle of New Orleans in the War of 1812 took place. They didn’t know that the war had ended on 24th December, 1814. Did you know that 1835 was the only time in our history that the US national debt $0? As of today, it’s over $27 trillion and that means that every citizen’s share is $83,785. In 1877 on this date Crazy Horse and his warriors fight their last battle with the United States Cavalry at Wolf Mountain in the Montana Territory. He said, “We do not inherit the Earth from our Ancestors, we borrow it from our Children.” In 1902 New York state assemblyman Francis G. Landon gets a bill passed to criminalize men turning around on a street and “looking at a woman in that way”. That law has not been repealed. Today is the birthday of the comedian Soupy Sales. He said “Hey, kids! I want you to tiptoe into your parents bedrooms, look in their pockets for all the green pieces of paper with the pictures of the guys in beards, and send them to Soupy Sales at channel 5 in New York.” I think he got a pie in the face on every show. That’s enough for this day. Be kind to people. It’s Joy Germ day. Also, be sure to Abide.
