Another day is upon us. It’s April 29th, 2020. I will try and make this day as good as I can. We aren’t in a good place now but this isn’t the first time humanity has faced problems. I trust when all this is over, we’ll be in a better place than we are now. That’s down the road in the future and I’m in the present which happens to be National Peace Rose Day, International Dance Day, Zipper Day, World Stationery Day, Stop Food Waste Day and Shrimp Scampi Day. I’ll go with the Shrimp. Very yummy. Now the history: This is the day in 1707 that the English and Scottish parliaments accept Act of Union; creates the United Kingdom of Great Britain. Now you know where the term comes from. In 1905 on this day, 2″ rain falls in 10 mins in Taylor, Texas. Wow. In 1961 ABC’s “Wide World of Sports” debuts. Finally, this is the day in 1967 that “Respect” is released by Aretha Franklin. This is the day that Alfred Hitchcock died (1980) at the age of 80. Alfred said, “The length of a film should be directly related to the endurance of the human bladder.” Today is also Willie Nelson birthday (1933). Willie said, “My doctor tells me I should start slowing it down – but there are more old drunks than there are old doctors so let’s all have another round.” So that’s it for today. Be safe. Leave tomorrow to the future and look for happiness today. Abide.
