We are now traveling the section of our galactic known as 11.20.2020. I woke up this morning feeling sorry for all of the teenagers who have had their lives disrupted by this virus. It’s Friday and that was my favorite day of the week. Football or basketball game to go to. Dragging Main with friends. Dances, making out and 3.2 beer. Damn I had fun in the early 1960s. I would have hated to miss out on that. I am lucky and I recognize it. Moving on. Today is Future Teachers Of America Day, Beautiful Day, International Stand Up To Bullying Day, Absurdity Day, Name Your PC Day (I’ve named mine Mr. Peabody), Universal Children’s Day and my pick, National Peanut Butter Fudge Day. Now onto the history portion of this post: On this day in 1817 First Seminole War begins in Florida. The Seminole tribe is made up of members of the Creek tribe, escaped slaves and Natives from other tribes on the run from US troops. Now you know. On this day in 1914 the State Department starts requiring photographs for passports. This is the day in 1945 the Nuremberg war trials begin as 24 Nazi leaders are put on trial before judges representing the Allied powers. In 1959 on this day, UN adopts Universal Declaration of Children’s Rights. You might want to google that and read it. Interesting. Today is Robert Kennedy’s birthday. He said, “Some men see things as they are, and ask why. I dream of things that never were, and ask why not.” He also said, “One-fifth of the people are against everything all the time.” This is the day that Leo Tolstoy stopped living in 1910 at the age of 82. He said, “The sole meaning of life is to serve humanity.” He also said, “If you want to be happy, be.” I would like to spend an afternoon with both of them. Enough for this day. Stay safe. It’s not over until the fat lady gets vaccinated. Abide.
