I’m not sure what day of the pandemic we’re now in. I don’t know when it started and no one knows when it will end. I’m sure I don’t have it, yet. Reason enough to celebrate March 14, 2020. There’s other reasons: Celebrate Scientists Day (we should do more of that), International Ask a Question Day (more of that too), Learn About Butterflies Day, National Potato Chip Day, Save A Spider Day (not), National Write Your Story Day, White Day (think chocolate) and Pi Day. I’m happy enough to be covid-19 free that I think I’ll just stick with that. If it was “Pie Day” instead of Pi Day, I might have gone for that. In 1794 on this day Eli Whitney patents the cotton gin machine revolutionizing the cotton industry in the southern US states. In 1950 the FBI’s “10 Most Wanted Fugitives” program begins. Finally, in 1973 future US senator John McCain is released after spending over five years in a North Vietnamese prisoner of war camp. This is the birthday (1879) of Albert Einstein. He has fabulous quotes. Here are a few: “If you can’t explain it to a six year old, you don’t understand it yourself.” “The true sign of intelligence is not knowledge but imagination.” Albert is on my top 5 list to spend an afternoon with. That’s enough for today. Wash those hands, don’t go looking for a crowd of people and be sure to Abide.
