Another day awaits. Soon Earth will rotate into the sun of April 18, 2020. Going to do a little of this and some of that today. Read, work on a puzzle, clean, bake beer bread, watch a few shows and the news. Drink some rum. I’m grateful to not worry about a job or rent of food. Many are not as lucky as I am. Today happens to be Husband Appreciation Day, National Animal Crackers Day, National Transfer Money to Your Daughter’s Account Day, PiƱata Day and World Circus Day. None of these make me want to throw a party but I do like animal crackers. Now to the history of this day. In 1775 Paul Revere and William Dawes ride from Charlestown to Lexington warning the “regulars are coming!” On this day in 1861, Colonel Robert E. Lee turns down offer to command Union armies. As we now know, he made the wrong choice. On this day in 1906 the San Francisco earthquake and fire kills nearly 4,000 while destroying 75% of the city. Finally, in 1924 the 1st crossword puzzle book published by Simon & Schuster. This day (1857) is Clarence Darrow’s birthday. He was a rather famous defense attorney. Here are a couple of his quotes: “I have never killed a man, but I have read many obituaries with great pleasure.” and “I don’t like spinach, and I’m glad I don’t, because if I liked it I’d eat it, and I just hate it.” It would be fun to spend a day with Clarence. This is the day that 1955 that Albert Einstein died at the age of 76. He said, “A table, a chair, a bowl of fruit and a violin; what else does a man need to be happy?” I would make it a ukulele but that’s just me. So there you have it. Do your best to make today a positive experience. Be safe. Respirators blow. Abide
