I feel like I’m Bill Murray and it’s Ground Hog Day again. It’s March 25th, 2020 but it feels a lot like the 24th, 23rd, etc… Another day of social distancing is upon us. I’m started to re read Harry Potter again. That helps. I’m still virus free which gives me the incentive to continue the isolation. It’s Manatee Appreciation Day, International Waffle Day, National Lobster Newburg Day, National Little Red Wagon Day and Pecan Day. I think a waffle for breakfast sounds excellent. Now to the What Happened part of my post. In 1807 on this date, the British Parliament abolished the slave trade throughout the British Empire. In 1882, the 1st demonstration of pancake making is held at a department store in New York City. Finally, on this date in 1961, the Russians launch Sputnik 10 that carries a dog into Earth orbit. This is the birthday (1906) of Alan John Percival Taylor. He was an English historian. He said, “Knowledge breeds doubt, not certainty, And the more we know the more uncertain we become.” He also said, “If there had been no troublemakers, no dissenters, we should still be living in caves.” It would be fun to spend an afternoon with him. This is also the birthday in 1934 of Gloria Steinem, American feminist and publisher. She said, “I have yet to hear a man ask for advice on how to combine marriage and a career.” Probably true. Now I’m done. My day is started. Wash those hands. Abide.
