Here we are in May’s 9th day in the year 2020. For most of America, it’s a pretty scary place. All we can do is make the best of it and continue to hope for a vaccine. In the meantime, today is American Indian Day, Brunch For Lunch, International Migratory Bird Day, Lost Sock Memorable Day, Mother Ocean Day, National Butterscotch Brownie Day, National Moscato Day and World Belly Dance Day. There more but this is enough. I really don’t get belly dancing but some people do. I’ll go with brownies. Now lets see what happened way back when. On this day in 1460 in the courtyard of the episcopal palace in Arras France they burned witches. Think about that one for a few seconds. This day in 1865 is the commonly accepted date for the end of the Civil War. In 1914 US President Woodrow Wilson proclaims May 9th as Mother’s Day. On this day in 1960 the US becomes the first country to legalize the birth control pill. Today is Billy Joel’s birthday (1949). Billy said, “If you are not doing what you love, you are wasting your time.” I can’t find anyone I want to use for a quote in the obituaries of this day. Sometimes that happens so I’ll end this post with another one from Billy, “It’s really hard to make a living as a musician. It’s almost impossible.” That is a fact and I look forward to getting back to normal and listening to my friends again. They need us and we need them. Ya’ll Abide now.
