11.30.2020. We have made it through the month of November. For me it was a stellar month. Everyone in my family is vaccinated and we were together. My Son-in-Law had a breakthrough covid which nearly killed him but 5 days at the U of M medical Center in Ann Arbor, he’s well on his way back. That is something we are all grateful for. We’re all looking forward to our next vaccination against the Omicron variant. I’m guessing Feb. 2022. That’s in the future and I’m in today which is National Mason Jar Day, Cities For The Death Penalty Day, Perpetual Youth Day, Stay At Home Because You’re Well Day, Personal Space Day and National Mousse Day. My pick is perpetual youth day. I try to keep the child inside alive. On this day in 1786 Grand Duke of Tuscany Leopold II initiated penal reform, making his the 1st state to abolish the death penalty. This is the day in 1864 that the battle of Franklin, Tennessee is fought. The Confederate attack failed. There were 7,700 casualties. This is the day in 1907 that the Pike Place Market opened in Seattle. This is the day in 1950 that US President Harry Truman threatened China with the atom bomb. Today is Jonathan Swift’s birthday. Born in 1667, he wrote “Gulliver’s Travels”. Jonathan said, “We have enough religion to make us hate, but not enough to make us love one another” and “Every day is an opportunity to make a new happy ending. May you live all the days of your life.” This is the day in 1900 that the Irish poet Oscar Wilde died at the age of 46. He said, “True contentment is not having everything, but in being satisfied with everything you have,” “It’s not whether you win or lose, it’s how you place the blame,” and “Women are made to be loved, not understood.” Hard to argue that. Abide.
