The 10th day of April 2022 is what we call this never travelled before 24-hour section of space/time. Earth will fly 1.6 million miles today. That means we’re moving at a constant speed of 66,666 MPH. It’s good that space is mostly empty. Today there are several events worth celebrating: Palm Sunday, Golfer’s Day, Encourage A Young Writer’s Day, Global Work From Home Day, National Hug Your Dog Day, National Farm Animals Day, Siblings Day, and National Cinnamon Crescent Day. Now some historical footnotes: On this day in 1516 the 1st Jewish ghetto was established in Venice when they compelled Jews to live in a specific area. This is the day in 1815 that Mount Tambura in the Dutch East Indies experienced a cataclysmic eruption, one of the most powerful in history, killing around 71,000 people, caused a global volcanic winter. In 1825, the 1st hotel in Hawaii opened. It was known as Major Warren’s Hotel and was also Hawaii’s first restaurant. In 1866 on this day the American Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) was founded. On this day in 1916 the Professional Golfers Association (PGA) was formed. Now we visit people who are no longer with us. The poet Kahlil Gibran who died in 1931 is first. Kahlil said, ”Our anxiety does not come from thinking about the future, but from wanting to control it” and “Tortoises can tell you more about the road than hares.” Next is Barbara Marx Hubbard who was a futurist and speaker. She suggested “Ask to know what you are born to do.” The last person we visit today is Sam Kinison who said, “It occurred to me that there wouldn’t be world hunger, if you people would MOVE WHERE THE FOOD IS!!!:” I love that routine. Enough for today. Be safe, be happy and be sure to Abide.
