September 16th, 2023 is here. This morning I searched on “things you do each day to be happy” and found articles with excellent advice. I found that I do what is recommended each day. I eat well. I get enough sleep. I avoid negative people. I limit the amount of negative news I consume. I think good thoughts and I do stuff meaningful to me. This list is from the Mayo Clinic. A state of happiness is a destination. It usually requires a plan to get there. Today we can celebrate Batman Day, Big Whopper Liar Day, International Coastal Cleanup Day, International Eat an Apple Day, Locate An Old Friend Day, National Cinnamon Raisin Bread Day, National Dance Day, Mayflower Day, and National Guacamole Day. On this day in 1620 the Mayflower departed Plymouth, England with 102 Pilgrims and a crew of 30. On this day in 1810 Mexico issued the Grito de Dolores calling for the end of Spanish rule. Today is Mexican Independence Day. On this day in 1848 slavery was abolished in all French territories. On this day in 1863 the Robert College of Istanbul, Turkey was founded. It is the first American educational institution outside the United States and still operates today as a private high school. On this day in 1908 General Motors was founded in Flint, MI.
