We are now in the time space of October 6, 2021. After I woke up this morning, I just continued to lay in bed thinking about how lucky I am to be living this life. These thoughts were not random. They have become my daily ritual. My first conscious thoughts each day are ones of gratitude. Melony Beattie says that gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. I think she’s right. Today we have a good list of celebratory events. It’s Come And Take It Day, Garlic Lovers Day, Mad Hatter Day, National German American Day, National Plus Size Appreciation Day, National Noodle Day and Random Acts Of Poetry. Now onto the history of this day: In 1863 on this day Dr Charles H Sheppard opened the 1st public bath in Brooklyn. On this day in 1889, Thomas Edison showed his first motion picture. This is the day in 1927 that “The Jazz Singer”, was released. It is the 1st film with a soundtrack and ends silent movies. And for all you Cub fans, this is the day in 1945 that Tavern owner “Billy Goat” Sianis bought a seat for his goat for Game 4 of Baseball World Series and was escorted out which caused him to cast goat curse on Chicago Cubs which lasted for 71 years.  I gave you the first line of the quote from Melony Beattie. Here’s the of her quote “It (gratitude) turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Since today is Radom Acts of Poetry, I’ll end with this poem I wrote at least 20 years ago while driving home after work:

Ode to the toad

Who got squished on the road

Wouldn’t have happen if he’d knowed

Knowledge been bestowed

Consequences he’d been showed

He’d have found another mode

To get across that road

The Crow smiles.

Life is good.
