We’ve made it to the Ides of March (March 15, 2020) this is the date in ancient Rome that debts must be settled. I didn’t know that. There are new cases of people with the virus in Florida but none reported in our area. That’s a good thing. Hope it stays that way. Don’t expect it to. It’s Dumbstruck Day (when someone does something so stupid it puts you into shock). It’s also Everything You Think is Wrong Day (I know a few people…), National Peanut Lovers Day and True Confessions Day. I’ll take the peanuts. This is the day in 44 BC that Julius Caesar is stabbed to death by Brutus, Cassius and several other Roman senators. This is a quote from Julius Caesar, “Men in general are quick to believe that which they wish to be true.” He also is the person who said, “The die is cast”. In 1867 Michigan becomes 1st state to tax property to support a university. I’ll bet some of the people were upset that they were being forced to pay for something that would benefit others. Finally, this is the day in 1972 that the Godfather premiered in New York City. Today is Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s birthday (1933). Ruth said, “You can disagree without being disagreeable.” This also happens to be the day in 2007 that Charles Harrelson, the father of Woody Harrelson died. The reason I tell you this is because Charles Harrelson was a hit man. He murdered people for the mob. Don’t have any quotes from him but it is interesting. With that, I’ll start my day of social isolation or social distancing. Stay safe out there and be sure to Abide.
