In a few hours Ra will begin his daily journey across the sky of February 6, 2022. I’ll begin this post with a quote from Groucho Marx who said,” I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I’m going to be happy in it.” Groucho and I are on the very same page. February 6th is National Frozen Yogurt Day, Dump Your Significant Jerk Day, Pay-a-Compliment Day, Lame Duck Day and Ronald Reagan Day. I’m going to be paying compliments to as many people as I can today. Making someone feel good is a superpower we all have. Might as well use it occasionally. Now to what happened on this date. In 1820 on this day the 1st organized emigration of blacks back to Africa began. New York City to Sierra Leone. In 1882, the society of the Knights of Columbus formed in New Haven, Connecticut. In 1894 the bottle opener was patented by William Painter. In 1911 the 1st old-age home was opened in Prescott, Arizona. In 1918 Great Britain granted women (30 & over) the right to vote. In 1935 the “Monopoly” board game went on sale for the 1st time. Today we celebrate Bob Marley’s birthday. Bob would have been 77 today. Unfortunately for all of us he only made it to 36. Bob said, “Love the life you live, live the life you love.” “Nothing is wrong if it makes you happy.” “The day you stop racing, is the day you win the race.” There’s a reason his music and words continue to resonate. I’ll end with “Don’t worry about a thing, every little thing is gonna be alright.” Abide.
