It is now August 25, 2020. It will be a good day of a not too good day for you depending on your attitude and circumstances. My question to you is which is worse: Ignorance or Apathy? My answer is: I don’t know and I don’t care. That’s how I’m starting this day. I’m still grateful to be able to live this day but beyond that, several naps will be required. It’s good to be retired. Today is Kiss And Make Up Day, National Banana Split Day, National Second-hand Wardrobe Day, Touch-A-Heart Tuesday and National Whiskey Sour Day which is my celebratory election. Now some historical footnotes: On this day in 1609 Galileo demonstrates his 1st telescope to Venetian lawmakers. In 1718 on this day, hundreds of French colonists arrive in Louisiana and New Orleans is founded. This is the day in 1910 the Yellow Cab is founded. On this day in 1915 a hurricane kills 275 in Galveston, Texas with $50 million damage. This is Sean Connery’s birthday. He will always be James Bond to me. Sean said, “I like women. I don’t understand them, but I like them.” This is the day in 1900 that Friedrich Nietzsche, German philosopher dies at 55. He is the person who said, “That which does not kill us, makes us stronger”. He also said, “I cannot believe in a God who wants to be praised all the time.” He’s one of my favorite philosophers.
