I woke up on this day, September 19, 2021, thinking about taking things for granted. My first memories are of living in a farmhouse in Kansas that didn’t have electricity or running water. Yes, I did walk two miles to school, and it was uphill in both directions or at least it seemed like it. I’m more than a little grateful for where I’m at now. Today is International Talk Like A Pirate Day, National Butterscotch Pudding Day, Women Road Warrior Day, National Neighborhood Day and National Wife Appreciation Day. Arrgggg, me love me wife!! Now to what happened way back when: On this day in 1559, Five Spanish ships went down in storm off Tampa, about 600 die. On this day in 1876 the 1st carpet sweeper was patented by Melville Bissell of Grand Rapids, Mich. This is the day in 1893 that New Zealand became the first country to grant all women the right to vote. In 1896 on this day the Bombay plague epidemic began which kills 12 million in India. Finally, in 1952 the Adventures of Superman premiered. This is a hard day to find good quotes to pass on. Not many poets or philosophers died on this day. So, let’s get some advice from chiefs. This is Michael Symon and Mario Batali’s birthday. Both Iron Chiefs. First Michael, “If you learn a recipe, you can cook the recipe. If you learn the technique, you can cook anything”. I strongly suggest you search on “Sous Vide” and learn how to cook perfect protein. Now to Mario, “The perfect recipe for a margarita is 2 ounces tequila, 2 ounces fresh lime juice, 1 ounce Cointreau, and tiny splash of some kind of an agave or orange juice”. Enough for this day. I’ve decided it’s going to be a wonderful, filled with fun day. I hope you have also. Abide.
