It’s the 25th day of May in 2022. Yesterday became a historical footnote when 19 small children and 2 adults were murdered by an 18–year–old named Salvador Romas at the Robb Elementary School in Uvalde Texas. Guns are now the leading cause death in America for children. Unfortunately, we’ve grown used to it which is as big a tragedy as the shooting itself. Nothing will change so I’ll just move on. May 25th is Geek Pride Day, National Brown Bag It Day, National Tap Dance Day, Towel Day and my celebratory selection, National Wine Day. It’s a wine day for me. Now to some history. On this day in 1720, the Ship “Le Grand St Antoine” reached Marseille, bringing Europe’s the last major plague outbreak kills around 100,000. This is the day in 1927 that Henry Ford announced the end of the Model T production. This day marks a riot at Mobile, Alabama, shipyard over upgrading 12 black workers in 1943. In 1955 on this day a series of 19 twisters destroyed Udall Kansas and most of Blackwell Oklahoma. Finally, in 1961 President Kennedy announced the US goal of putting a man on the Moon before the end of decade. Now for some observations from the departed. Bradley Nowell played lead guitar for the punk band Sublime. He died at the age of 28 in 1996. He said, “Life is too short, so love the one you got.” Robert Capa was war photographer and photojournalist who died in 1954. He said, “The concentration camps were swarming with photographers and every new picture of horror served only to diminish the total effect.
