The earth has now moved into the time/space of June 11, 2021. How did June 10th go? Did you have fun? Did you do something to make someone feel good? Did you say “I love you” to someone? If the answer is no to any of these questions, you’ve got another chance today. Don’t waste it. The Commission has designed a few events to celebrate today: It’s Corn On The Cobb Day, Cousteau Day, King Kamehameha Day (Hawaii), National Making Life Beautiful Day and German Chocolate Cake Day. Always go with chocolate. Yum. This is the day in 1742 Benjamin Franklin invented his Franklin stove. On this day in 1837 the Broad Street Riot occurred in Boston. It was Boston’s working class vs. new Irish immigrants. This is the day in 1939 that the King and Queen of England tasted their 1st “hot dog” at FDR’s party. On this day in 1963 Gov. Wallace tries to prevent blacks from registering at University of Alabama. This is the day in 1979 that John Wayne’s life stopped. I’ll give you two quotes from John: “Life is tough pilgrim, it is even tougher if you’re stupid” and “Tomorrow hopes we have learned something from yesterday.” I don’t agree with John on many things but I do appreciate the simple truth of these two quotes. Don’t be stupid and you need to continue to have an open mind and learn as you live each day. Works for me. Now, let’s go out and have some fun today. Abide.
