We have arrived in the time/space of 12.13.2020. It’s good to be here. I celebrate each milepost as you should. Life is a gift that you get to open every day. It is called the present. Let’s see what we get to choose from today. It’s National Day Of The Horse. National Coco Day, National Violin Day, World Choral Day, World Wide Candle Lighting Day and Ice Cream Day. When I was growing up on the farm, we didn’t have a BBQ grill but we did have an hand crank ice cream maker. I remember helping my dad make ice cream. Good memory. I’ll go with that. Onto history: On this day in 1636 The Massachusetts Bay Colony organizes three militia regiments to defend the colony against the Pequot Indians. This organization is recognized today as the founding of the United States National Guard. This is the day in 1759 that the first music store in America opens in Philadelphia. This is the day in 1928 that the clip on tie is designed. On this day in 1937 Japanese troops conquer and plunder Nanjing. The Nanjing Massacre lasted for six weeks when the Japanese Army murdered hundreds of thousands of people, including both soldiers and civilians and sexually assaulted between 20,000 and 80,000 women. Wow. In 1969 on this date, Arlo Guthrie releases “Alice’s Restaurant”. This is Alvin York’s birthday. He was made famous by the movie “Sargent York” staring Gary Cooper. York, by himself, attacked German machine gun nests, killed at least 25 and captured 132. That deserves another Wow. I’ll end this post with a quote from the Jewish philosopher Maimonides who stopped life in 1204 at the age of 69. He said, “I will destroy my enemies by converting them to friends”. Now it’s time to begin this new, unique, once in your life day. Be safe and Abide.
