We’re getting ready to pass mile marker 5.27.2021 on this journey of ours. I’m glad to have made it to this day. Some of us will take this exit ramp and more will enter this highway of life. I’m sure there’s a song in there somewhere. Today happens to be Cellophane Tape Day. Why? I have no idea. It’s also National Grape Popsicle Day, Red Nose Day, Old-Time Player Piano Day and Nothing To Fear Day. Nothing on the list makes me want to throw a party. Some days are like that. Now to our history lesson of today. On this day in 1529, 30 Jews of Posing, Hungary were charged with holding a blood ritual and were burned at stake. If you were alive in 1896 and living in St. Louis, it was a bad day. A tornado hit, killing 255 and leaving thousands homeless. On this day in 1933 Walt Disney’s short film “3 Little Pigs” was released. It received the Academy Award for Best Animated film in 1934. This is also the day in 1969 that Walt Disney World construction began at Bay Lake and Lake Buena Vista, Florida. This is also the day that Jawaharlal Nehru, 1st Prime Minister of India died in 1964. He said, “Ignorance is always afraid of change.” And, “The man who has gotten everything he wants is all in favor of peace and order.” I tend to agree with him. I’ll end this post with quotes from another person from India and one of my favorite philosophers, Mahatma Gandhi who said, “When you are right, you have no need to be angry. When you are wrong, you have no right to be angry.” With that, I’ll wish you a good day. Abide.
