It has become the 16th day of January 2020. The reason we’re here is because the Earth has moved into the time/space designated for this singular date. We’ll never be here again. I remind you of this concept often in the hope that you will share my focus on the present. This isn’t “just another day”. It’s Appreciate The Dragon Day, International Hot And Spicy Food Day, National Fig Newton Day, National Nothing Day, National Religious Freedom Day and Prohibition Remembrance Day. I love the hot and spicy so that would be my personal choice. I also like Fig Newtons. Plenty here for everyone. Now let’s see what’s happened on this date. In 1605 The first edition of “El ingenioso hidalgo Don Quijote de la Mancha” (Book One of Don Quixote) by Miguel de Cervantes is published in Madrid. I’ve always liked Don Quixote’s attitude. “To dream the impossible dream”. In 1793 French King Louis XVI sentenced to death by the National Convention during the French Revolution. In 1868 the refrigerator railroad car was patented by William Davis, a fish dealer in Detroit. In 1939 the daily newspaper comic strip “Superman” debuts. In 1965 the Searchers’ “Love Potion Number 9” peaks at #3. Finally, in 1967 Lucius Amerson, becomes 1st Southern (Alabama) African American sheriff in 20th century. I looked for a quote from Lucius but couldn’t find one. There is a Facebook page for him. It’s pretty phenomenal that it took over 100 years after the civil war for a black man to be elected sheriff in the entire South. To end this post, let’s go back to National Nothing Day. It should be called Decide To Take No Action Day. I do that every day when I read the political posts and pass it on memes. I’m getting better at it. Abide
