That’s my happiness pursing tip of the day. After all, today is Helium Discovery Day, Mail Order Catalog Day, Bad Poetry Day, National Fajita Day, Pinot Noir Day, National Ice Cream Pie Day and Serendipity Day. In case you don’t know, Serendipity is the occurrence and development of events by chance in a happy or beneficial way. I’ll go with fajitas with a glass of wine and ice cream pie for dessert. Now to the history part of this post. In 1612 on this date the Pendle witch trial begins with 10 people accused of witchcraft in Lancaster, England. The key witness is a 9 year-old boy. 1 was found not guilty and 9 were hung. This is the day in 1835 that the last Pottawatomie Indians leave Chicago. This is the day in 1872 that the 1st mail-order catalog is published by A M Ward. Finally, on this day in 1909 the Mayor of Tokyo presents Washington, D.C. with 2,000 cherry trees which President Taft decides to plant near the Potomac River. Today is Robert Redford’s birthday (1936). He said, “Health food may be good for the conscience but Oreos taste a hell of a lot better.” I agree. This is the day in 2018 that Kofi Annan, 7th Secretary-General of the United Nations dies at 80.
