July 1, 2022. It’s my hope that this July brings less change than June did. I can’t ignore what’s going on so I’ll just try to think about the constitutional chaos as little as possible and when I can’t do that, I’ll think of ice cream which is my secret weapon to control my thoughts. Moose Tracs is my favorite. July 1st is American Zoo Day, Devotion to Duty Day, International Joke Day, International Reggae Day, National Gingersnap Day, Early Bird Day, Drive Your Corvette to Work Day, International Chicken Wing Day, and National Creative Ice Cream Flavor Day. Now some history:  This is the day in 1200 that sunglasses were invented in China. On this day in 1776 the first vote on the Declaration of Independence was taken. On this day in 1847 the 1st postage stamps went on sale; a 5 cent Franklin and a 10 cent Washington. On this day in 1862 the Internal Revenue Law imposed the 1st federal taxes on Inheritance, tobacco, and incomes over $600. This is the day in 1904 that the 1st modern Olympic Games took place in St. Louis at the World’s Fair. This is the day in 1905 when Einstein introduced his theory of relativity. Today we’re going to hear from great actors who passed on July 1st. Marlon Brando is first. He said, “Regret is useless in life. It’s in the past. All we have is now.” Michael Landon suggests “Whatever you want to do, do it now. There are only so many tomorrows.” Hugh Downs said, “A happy person is not a person in a certain set of circumstances, but rather a person with a certain set of attitudes.” Enough for today. Abide.
