Half way through the month of June and approaching the mid point of the year (July 2). We’re now in the time/space of the 15th. No potential hurricanes in sight and I do check every day. All the rest of yesterday’s problems remain. That’s the way it works. You have to fix them because they don’t go away on their own. Despite the problems we face, there is always something to take pleasure in and celebrate. Its’ National Fly A Kite Day, Magna Carta Day, National Smile Power Day, National Electricity Day, National Kiss a Wookiee Day, National Lobster Day, National Photography Day and Native American Citizenship Day. Not much for me in this list. I do like lobster once in awhile. Onto history: On this day in 1667 the 1st fully documented human blood transfusion is performed by French physician, when a small amount of sheep blood is transfused into a 15-year old boy, who survives the procedure. On this day in 1844 Charles Goodyear patents the vulcanization of rubber. Vulcanization is a process to harden rubber. This is the day in 1878 World’s first moving pictures caught on camera (used 12 cameras, each taking 1 picture) done to see if all 4 of a horse’s hooves leave the ground. On this day in 1908 Sam Giancana, American mafioso, born in Chicago, Illinois. Sam said, “We took care of Kennedy”. I’ve never believed that Kennedy was killed by Oswald. This is also the date in 2014 that Casey Kasem, radio personality and the voice of Shaggy on Scooby-Doo, dies at 82. He said, “For the most part, that message hasn’t changed a lot over the years – love is still love, and heartbreak is still heartbreak.” Now you know a little more then you did a few minutes ago. So do I. Always a good thing. Stay safe and wear the damn mask. Abide
