We are now in the time/space of 9.6.2020. I’m glad to be alive. One of the reasons I write this almost daily post is to remind myself and you how wonderful it is to be able live this life. The actual odds of our existence is 1 in 102,685,000 — yes, that’s a 10 followed by 2,685,000 zeroes! Everyone of our ancestors for the last 200,000 had to get busy and produce another ancestor to eventually produce you. Wow. So, don’t ever tell me you aren’t lucky. Life is the ultimate lotto prize. You get to celebrate barbie Doll Day, Fight Procrastination Day, Read A Book Day, Great Egg Toss Day, National Coffee Ice Cream Day and Pet Rock Day. Coffee Ice Cream sounds good to me. On this day in 1622 a Spanish silver fleet disappears off Florida Keys and 1,000s die. In 1716 on this day, the 1st lighthouse in America is built in Boston. a hurricane hits Martinique on this day in 1776 and sinks 100 French and Dutch ships and 600 die. On this day in 1916 the 1st true supermarket, the “Piggly Wiggly” is opened by Clarence Saunders in Memphis, Tennessee. In 1941 on this day, all Jews over age 6 in German territories are ordered to wear a star. Today is Joseph Kennedy’s birthday. He was the JFK’s father. Joe said, “Don’t buy a single vote more than necessary. I’ll be damned if I’m going to pay for a landslide.” This is also the day that Margaret Sanger stopped living at the age of 86. She was an feminist activist. She said, “No woman can call herself free who does not own and control her body.” That is enough for this day. Enjoy it as best you can. It’s up to you. Abide.
