It’s 12.22.2023. “22” is the most powerful number in Numerology. To me, it’s just another special day filled with opportunities to have some fun. One that I’m grateful that I get to live. The 22nd is National Short Person Day, Mathematics Day, National Ashton Day, National Betty Day, National Date Nut Bread Day, Abilities Day, Be a Lover of Silence Day, and National Haiku Poetry Day. The Haiku is a 3-line, non-rhyming poem with 5 syllables in the 1st and 3rd line and 7 in the 2nd line: I sit here thinking/ What lies ahead in this day/ It is up to me. Moving on to history: On this day in 1731 the Dutch people revolted against a meat tax. I did a quick search on “Dutch Meat Tax” and found that they are trying to tax meat again and being met with the same reaction they got in 1731. On this day in 1882 the 1st string of Christmas tree lights was created by Thomas Edison. On this day in 1894 the United States Golf Association (USGA) was formed in New York. On this day in 1941 Winston Churchill arrived in Washington DC for a wartime conference. He stayed at the White House for 3 weeks with FDR and Elenor. On this day in 1944 Germans demanded that the surrounded American troops around Bastogne, Belgium surrender. “Nuts” was the reply. On this day in 1958 the Christmas novelty single “The Chipmunk Song” reached #1. This is the day in 1964 that comedian Lenny Bruce was convicted of obscenity. In 1967 on this day “The Graduate” premiered. Today we will hear from the late (1880) British novelist George Eliot. She said, “it is never too late to become the person you always thought you could be.” “What sunshine is to flowers; smiles are to humanity.” “What do we live for, if not to male life less difficult for each other?” “It’s easy finding reasons why other folks should be patient.” You need to think about that one for a second. She also said “The years between 50 and 70 are the hardest. You are always being asked to do things, and yet you are not decrepit enough to turn them down.” That nugget of truth is a good one to end on. Abide.
