It’s November 8th, 2023 and the election is over. As predicted (by me) the big issue was a woman’s right to choose. Now I’ll go back to ignoring CNN, MSNBC & Fox (which I never watch anyway). I’m planning on having an exceptionally good day today. I will control my thoughts, be kind and have a positive attitude. Being happy is easy if you know how. Today is Cook Something Bold & Pungent Day, Dunce Day, International Pathology Day, International Tongue Twister Day, National Cappuccino Day, National Harvey Wallbanger Day, and National Walk To Work Day. For those of you who have forgotten, a Harvey Wallbanger is 1 ½ oz Vodka, 4 oz Orange Juice and ½ oz Galliano. Yum. Onto history. On this day in 392 Roman Emperor Theodosius declared the Christian religion the official state religion. On this day in 1701 William Penn presented the Charter of Privileges which guaranteed religious freedom for the colony of Pennsylvania. On this day in 1798 Irish revolutionary Wolfe Tone was sentenced to death by hanging for his part in the Irish Rebellion. Tone requested to be shot instead of hanged so he could die a soldier’s death. On this day in 1932 FDR was elected defeating Republican incumbent Herbert Hoover. On this day in 1944 25,000 Hungarian Jews are loaned to Nazis for forced labor. On this day in 2014 Mikhail Gorbachev warned that tensions between America and Russia over Ukraine will put the world into a new Cold War. Today we will visit the grave of Margaret Mitchell who was the author of Gone With The Wind. It was the only novel she ever wrote. She said, “Life’s under no obligation to give us what we expect. We take what we get and are thankful it’s no worse than it is.” “Some mistakes are too much fun to make only once.” “The usual masculine disillusionment is discovering that a woman has a brain.” “Every problem has two handles. You can grab it by the handle of fear or the handle of hope.” “After all, tomorrow is another day.” Good place to end this post. Abide.
