September 24th, 2022 has arrived. Most of the people who read this post live in Florida. We are about to be whacked by hurricane Ian next week. How will the Federal, State, and local government perform? Will the private sector provide the resources they promised when we paid our premiums? I guess we will wait and see. Today there is a long list of celebratory events. Here are a few of them: It’s Gallbladder Good Heath Day, Festival of Latest Novelties, Family Health and Fitness Day, International Rabbit Day, Kiss Day, Museum Day, National Bluebird of Happiness Day, National Cherries Jubilee Day, National Hunting and Fishing Day, National Singles Day, and READ Day. Not excited about any of them. Let’s look at the history of this day. On this day in 1493 Columbus embarked on his 2nd expedition to the New World with a fleet of 17 ships. On this day in 1789 the Federal Judiciary Act passed creating a 6-peron Supreme Court. On this day in 1869 the Wall Street panic known as Black Friday occurred when Gould & Fisk tried to corner the market on gold. On this day in 1924 Boston MA opened it’s 1st airport. This is the day in 1934 that 2,500 fans see Babe Ruth’s farewell Yankee appearance. This is the day in 1948 that the Honda Motor Company was founded. On this day in 1952 the first Kentucky Fried Chicken franchised store was opened in Salt Lake City, UT. The dead person for today is Theodor Seuss Geisel better known as Dr. Seuss who happens to be one of my favorite philosophers. Dr. Seuss said, “Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind. Don’t cry because it’s over. Smile because it happened.” “When you stop and look around, this life is pretty amazing.” “Today was good, Today was fun. Tomorrow is another one.” “Think! You can think any think that you wish.” The end. Abide.
