The earth has rotated into the time/space of June 5, 2022. I have no doubt that this day will be wonderful or terrible, good or bad, average of not so average. It all depends on where you are, what your circumstances happen to be and most importantly, what your attitude is. My June 5th is going to be above average, partially because it’s National Attitude Day, National Gingerbread Day, National Veggie Burger Day, National Sausage Roll Day, National Frozen Yogurt Day and the Festival of Popular Delusions Day. Let us now take a peek into the past: This is the day in 1794 Congress passed the Neutrality Act which banned Americans from serving in foreign armed forces. On this day in 1884 General William Sherman refused the Republican presidential nomination and said “I will not accept if nominated and I will not serve if elected”. Obviously, no means no. On June 5, 1944, as part of Operation Tonga, the 1st British gliders touched down on French soil to prepare for the D-Day invasion which happened on June 6th. Today we are going to visit the author Ray Bradbury who stopped living on this day in 2012. Lots of interesting quotes attributed to Ray. These resonate with me:Treasure this day and treasure yourself, truly, neither will ever happen again.” “If you enjoy living, it is not difficult to keep the sense of wonder.” “Sometimes I think I understand everything. Then I regain consciousness.” I’ll wrap this one up with “Looking back over a lifetime, you see that love was the answer to everything.” Abide.
