We are now in the time/space of April 3, 2022. Out big ball of rock is still flying through space, in our 250-million-year orbit around our galaxy. It’s a safe bet that humanity won’t last that long which gives us the green light to do what makes us happy because in the long run, nothing we do matters much. Today is American Circus Day, Fish Fingers and Custard Day, World Party Day, Good Deed Day, National Chocolate Mousse Day, and Pony Express Day.. There’s more but this is enough. Did you know that Fish Fingers (sticks) make a pretty good fish taco? They’re shaped right, have a crunch, not bad. Now let’s see what happened on April 3rd. In 1860 the Pony Express began between St Joseph, Missouri & Sacramento, California. In 1882, Jesse James was killed by a gang member, Robert Ford, at his home in St Joseph. On this day in 1837 the number of judges on the Supreme Court was increased from 7 to 9. In 1845 Florida became a state. On this day in 1885 the US Congress passed the Indian Appropriations Act which made Indians wards of the federal government. On this day in 1934, John Dillinger broke out of jail using a wooden gun. Graham Greene, who was an English novelist, died on this day in 199 at the age of 86. He said, “In the end there is no desire so deep as the simple desire for companionship” and “We’d forgive most things if we knew the facts.” Enough for this day’s post. Abide.
