This day is designated as January 30th, 2022. People will talk about this day for years. It will be known as the Day the Plants Died. As I type this post, the temperature is 28 degrees in central Florida. Oh well. Today is National Croissant Day, National Escape Day, National Inane Answering Machine Day, and Yodel for Your Neighbors Day. Now to our history: On this day in 1349 the Jews of Freilsburg Germany were massacred. Jews were blamed for poisoning wells. On this day in 1661, Oliver Cromwell, Lord Protector was ritually executed after being dead for 2 years. Wow. On this day in 1800 the population of America was 5,308,483. Of those, 1,002,037 were African Americans. On this day in 1933 the “Lone Ranger” began a 21-year run on ABC radio. On this day in 1948 Mahatma Gandhi was assassinated by a Hindu extremist. We might as well look at some of Gandhi’s quotes: “Our greatest ability as humans is not to change the world; but to change ourselves.” “Speed is irrelevant if you are going in the wrong direction.” “The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.” I’ll end with this one: “Your actions express your priorities.” Abide.
