In 1641 the United East Indian Company conquers city of Malacca, 7,000 killed. Think about this for a second. Malacca is in Malaysia. The United East Indian Company, a Dutch mega-corporation that has its own army, attacks a foreign city and in the process killed 7,000 people. Moving on: In 1690 on this day, the clarinet is invented. In 1699 Massachusetts holds day of fasting for wrongly persecuting “witches”. On this day in 1761 the 3rd battle of Panipat took place between the Afghani Empire (Muslim) and the Maratha Empire (Hindu). 70,000 people were killed in the battle and 40,000 Maratha prisoners were killed afterward. In 1956 Little Richard released “Tutti Frutti”. Since this is Andy Rooney’s birthday (1919), I’ll use his quotes today. Andy said, “I didn’t get old on purpose, it just happened.
