Welcome to January 12, 2022. How do you start your day? I used to just wake up and get going. Jump right into each one the same way I did the last one. In other words, I had a certain routine. The one I have now is better. My day now starts with writing this post. It gives me the chance to fine tune my attitude. It’s a better way to start my day. It is Kiss a Ginger Day (redhead), Curried Chicken Day, Feast of Fabulous Wild Men Day, National Hot Tea Day, National Marzipan Day, National Pharmacist Day and Stick To Your New Year’s Resolution Day. I’m married to a ginger, so I’ll go with that one. Now to the way back machine: This was the last day for all Jews to leave Sicily in 1493. In 1773 the first public museum in north American colonies was established in Charlestown, SC. On this day in 1863, President Jefferson Davis delivered his State of Confederacy address. You can search on it and read it. Within the speech, he refers to slaves as “several millions of human beings of an inferior race”. In 1915 the US House of Representatives rejected a proposal to give women the right to vote. In 1952 the University of Tennessee admitted it’s 1st black student. Today I’m going to give you quotes from the guru to the Beatles: Maharishi Mahesh Yogi who was born on this day in 1918 and passed in 2008 at the age of 90. He said, “We must take situations as they are. We must only change our attitudes towards them.” “All that we are is the result of what we have thought. The mind is everything. What we think, we become.” “We have an infinite number of reasons to be happy, and a serious responsibility not to be serious.” I’ll end with “It may take a little self-discipline – be simple, be kind, stay rested. Attend to your own inner-health and happiness.” That’s an excellent plan. Abide.
