December 9th, 2021. I feel like a cowboy climbing up on his horse to ride into a new day. Don’t know why I feel this way because I don’t particularly care for horses having been kicked, bitten, and thrown off of them. Having grown up on a ranch/farm, they were a necessity until Dad discovered dirt bikes and three wheelers. My point is that it’s a new day that you can make into anything you want it to be. Choose wisely. There’s only one singe 12/9/21 in your lifetime. Today we can celebrate Christmas Card Day, National Pastry Day (my pick), National Llama Day and Weary Willie Day. Weary Willie was the character that Emit Kelly made famous. I’m not a fan of clowns. There is something creepy about putting on makeup and transforming yourself into a persona that makes small children run for their lives. The Stephen King story didn’t help either. Now to history of this day.  On this day the 1st YMCA was established in North America (Montreal). In 1854 this is the day that Alfred Lord Tennison’s “Charge of the light brigade is 1st published. Great poem you should look up and read it. In 1905 on this date the French Assembly National votes for separation of church & state. On this day in 1941, Hitler orders that US ships be torpedoed. This is the day in 1964 that Dame Edith Louisa Sitwell’s life ended. She was a writer, critic, and poet. She said, “I am patient with stupidity but not with those who are proud of it.” She also said, “I’m dying, but otherwise I’m in very good health” and “Another little drink wouldn’t do us any harm.” I’ll end this post with some quotes from Steve Miller of the Steve Miller Band who died in 1998 at the age of 55. Steve said, “It’s never too late to be who you might have been.” And “You’re the cutest thing that I ever did see / I really love your peaches, wanna shake your tree.” That quote should have brought a smile to your face. Abide.
