The place where I now call home will rotate into the sunlight of a new and unique place in time/space in a few minutes known as November 24, 2021. Unlike most days, I have a long list of things to get done. We are preparing for Thanksgiving 2021. Since everyone in my family is vaccinated, we will have a normal holiday. And, since we’re all in the same tribe, we won’t be arguing about politics or religion. Looking forward to a Norman Rockwell kind of Thanksgiving. That is in the near future and I’m firmly in the present which is Brownielocks Day (celebrate brunettes), Celebrate Your Unique Talent Day, D.B. Cooper Day, National Jukebox Day, Blackout Wednesday and National Sardines Day. Onto history: In 1835, the Texas Rangers, mounted police force was authorized by Texas Provisional Government. In 1859 English naturalist Charles Darwin publishes “On the Origin of Species”.  On this day in 1874, barbed wire was patented. On this day in 1944, bombers based on Saipan first attacked Tokyo. On this day in 1950 the US infantry began an assault intending to end the Korean War by Christmas. It didn’t end until 1953. In 1966, 400 die of respiratory failure & heart attacks in New York City smog, smoggiest day in city’s history. This is the day in 1971 that Dan “DB” Cooper parachuted from a Northwest AL 727 with $200,000. Today is the birthday of the French artist Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec who said, “Marriage is a dinner that begins with dessert” and “Of course one should not drink much, but often.” Today is the day in 1991 that Freddie Mercury (Queen) died at the age of 45. Freddie said, “I won’t be a rock star, I will be a legend” and “It’s a beautiful day, the sun is shining, I feel good and no one’s going to stop me now.” That’s exactly the way I feel. Abide.
