This stretch of time/space is designated as November 22, 2021. I woke up thinking about the 76 plus years it’s taken me to get to this place. Life’s a journey. Where I’m at there aren’t many different trails to explore. Metaphorically, I used to travel through a forest with lots of different trails and obstacles everywhere. Now, it’s more like a walk in a park. I’m happy to be here. Today is Go For A Ride Day, Humane Society Anniversary Day, National Housing Day (if you’re in Canada), National Stop The Violence Day, Cranberry Relish Day and Start Your Own Country Day. Since starting my own country sounds too much like work, I’ll celebrate cranberry relish. On this day in 1542 Spain delegates “New Laws” against slavery in America. This is the reason why runaway slaves headed for Florida while it was under Spanish rule. This is the day in 1910, Arthur Knight patented the steel shaft golf club. This is the day in 1963 that JFK is shot to death in Dallas Texas. I’ve been to the Book Depository window where Oswald is said to have taken the shots from. I don’t buy the story. I don’t believe we’ll ever know the truth of who and why. This is the day in 1963 that the author of “Brave New World”, Aldous Huxley died. His quotes are insightful and often cynical, which I like. Here are two: “Never have so many been manipulated so much by so few.” And, the secret of genius is to carry the spirit of the child into old age, which means never losing your enthusiasm.” Since this is the day JFK stopped living, I’ll end this post with a few of his quotes that I like: “Those who foolishly sought power by riding the back of the tiger ended up inside.” And, “Economic growth without social progress lets the great majority of the people remain in poverty, while a privileged few reap the benefits of rising abundance.” I agree with him. Abide.
