Today is the 18th day of November 2021. I feel like starting with a little life skill coaching this morning. My question to you is, who do you want to be? What about yourself would you like to change? Why don’t you become who you want to be? Nobody’s stopping you. Today is a new opportunity, another chance, one more bite of the apple. In the words of Willie Nelson “Once you replace negative thoughts with positive ones, you’ll start having positive results.” More on that later. Today is Apple Cider Day, Mickey Mouse Day, Occult Day, National Princess Day, William Tell Day and Nouveau Beaujolais Day which I’ll go with because wine is fine with me. Now to what happened on this day. In 1307, William Tell shot the apple off his son’s head on this date. On this day in 1686, Charles Felix performed an operation on King Louis XIV’s anal fistula after practicing the surgery on several peasants. On this day in 1865, Mark Twain published the “Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County”. On this day in 1916 British General Douglas Haig finally calls off the 1st Battle of the Somme in World War I after more than 1 million soldiers had been killed or wounded. Wow. Now I’m going to deviate again and end this post with some advice about change from some of the wisest people who ever lived. The Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius said, “The happiness of your life depends upon the quality of your thoughts: therefore, guard accordingly and take are that you entertain no notions unsuitable to virtue and reasonable nature.” Norman Vincent Peale said, ”Change your thoughts and you change your world.” Andrew Bernstein said “The truth is that stress doesn’t come from your boss, your kids, your spouse, traffic jams, heath challenges or other circumstances. It comes from your thoughts about these circumstances.” I’ll end this post with a quote from Mahatma Gandhi “A man is but the product of his thoughts. What he thinks, he becomes.” Now I will start to become who I want to be. Abide.
