We are now in the space time designated as the 16th day of October 2021. We have never been here. Since the Universe continues to expand at a rate of 40 miles per second which I calculate to be little over 144,000 miles an hour, nothing has ever been in this small section of space before. Therefore, it’s brand new, never been used, time/space for us to enjoy. Just like yesterday. Just like tomorrow. This day, unlike the others is Global Cat Day, International Sloth Day, National Liqueur Day, Sweetest Day, National Fetch Day, I Love Yarn Day, National Cut Up Your Credit Card Day, and World Food Day. I’ll celebrate sweetest day because I’m a romantic at heart (sarcasm). Now onto historical events of this day: In 1829 the Tremont Hotel is the first modern hotel, opened in Boston. In 1869, the Tremont Hotel became the 1st to have indoor plumbing. In 1901 on this day Booker T. Washington and his family were invited to dine at the White House with Teddy and Edith Roosevelt, prompting condemnation from the South. In 1925, the Texas School Board prohibited the teaching of evolution. If nothing else, Texas has shown remarkable consistency over the years. Today is Oscar Wilde’s birthday. He was an Irish poet and playwright. He also provides a treasure trove of interesting quotes. I’ll end this post with some of his wit and wisdom. “Be yourself; everyone else is taken.” “Women are made to be loved, not understood” “The best way to enjoy your job is to imagine yourself without one.” I will end with this one: “True contentment is not having everything, but in being satisfied with everything you have.” Now go enjoy this once in your life event called October 16, 2021. Abide.
