May 13, 2021. Words can express how fortunate I feel today. I’m serious. I’m at peace with myself. I have a great family. I’m healthy. I’ve got enough money to buy anything I want (I don’t want anything that costs a lot of money). As Joe Walsh said, “Life’s been good to me so far”. Great way to begin this day which is also Top Gun Day, National Leprechaun Day, Tulip Day, World Hummus Day, Cough Drop Day, Frog Jumping Day, National Apple Pie Day and World Cocktail Day. I think there is a cocktail named apple pie. That might work for me. This is the day in 1643 that an earthquake struck Santiago Chile killing 1/3 of the population. In 1767, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s first opera premiered. He wrote it when he was 11 years old. This is the day in 1787 that Arthur Phillip set sail with 11 ships of criminals to Botany Bay, Australia. In 1888 DeWolf Hooper 1st recites “Casey at Bat”. This is the day in 1934 that the great dust bowl storm sweeps across US prairies. In two days, the storm carried an estimated 315 million tons of dirt all the way from the plains of Kansas and Oklahoma to New York City. This is the birthday (1914) of Heavy Weight Champion Joe Louis who said, “I can show you how to box. I can teach you every technique and trick I know, but I can never make you a fighter.
