It has become the 13th day of February 2021. It happened while I slept. It was the 12th and then it wasn’t. Another grain of celestial sand fell from the top into the bottom of my personal hourglass. I’ve got a lot in the bottom half and some still left in the top. How much? Don’t know. Each one is precious and not to be wasted. Today there are numerous events to consider. It’s Kiss Day, Dream A Sweet Dream Day, Get a Different Name Day, Galentine’s Day, Global Movie Day, Crab Rangoon Day, Madly In Love With Me Day, Break Up With Your Carrier Day, National Tortellini Day and National Cheddar Day. The Galentine’s Day is about female friendships. I’ve already broken up with my carrier and switched to streaming. I’ll celebrate cheddar today. Now let’s look at what interesting historical events happened on this date: In 1503 Disfida di Barletta was a famous challenge between 13 Italian and 13 French knights. Not knowing anything about this, I looked it up. It started in a bar with lots of wine and plenty of trash talking. The Italians won. In 1633 on this date, Galileo Galilei arrived in Rome to stand trial for professing his belief that the earth revolves around the Sun. This is the date in 1777 that Marquis de Sade was arrested without charge and imprisoned. His imprisonment probably had something to do with someone’s wife or daughter. He said, “In order to know virtue, we must first acquaint ourselves with vice.” In 1942 Hitler’s Operation Sea Lion, the invasion of England, was cancelled because the German couldn’t achieve air superiority over the coast of England. In 1981 the longest sentence was published by “The New York Times” containing 1286 words. I looked up “Longest Sentence” and that title is held by Jonathan Coe who wrote one with 13,955 words. This is Bess Truman’s birthday (1885). She said “A woman’s place in public is to sit beside her husband, be silent, and be sure her hat is on straight.” I didn’t find an interesting person who passed on this day but I did find out that on this date, Jerry Lewis got married to his second wife. I’ll end this with a quote from Jerry, “Turning 90 isn’t for sissies”. Ok, that’s it. Have an excellent day. Abide
