We’ve made it halfway through November 2020. It’s the 15th day. This road is still bumpy and full of ruts that we’re traveling on. It’s a road that only has an exit ramp. No rest stops. I’m happy to be on it and I’m not planning on getting off anytime soon. Just waiting for a smooth ride and blue skies. Until that happens, we’ve got some celebrating to do. It’s American Enterprise Day, George Spelvin Day (I’ll explain in a second), I Love To Write Day (I do), National Clean Out Your Refrigerator Day, National Raisin Brand Cereal Day, National Bundt Day and National Spicy Hermit Cookie Day. George or Georgette is a name used in the credits of a play or movie if a character plays two parts or if the actor hasn’t been picked when the program was printed, etc… Now you know. Onto history: On this day in 1720 Pirates, Anne Bonny, Mary Read and Calico Jack are captured and brought to Spanish Town, Jamaica, for trial. Calico Jack was executed but Anne and Mary claimed to be pregnant and their death sentence was commuted. On this day in 1881 the American Federation of Labor (AFL) is founded in Pittsburgh. In 1937 on this day the first US congressional session in air-conditioned chambers takes place. This is the day in 1969 that an estimated 2 million people take part in the Vietnam War Moratorium demonstration across the United States. It’s the same day that Janes Joplin is accused of vulgar & indecent language in Tampa, Florida. This is the birthday of William Herschel (1738). He is the astronomer who discovered Uranus. On behalf of everyone with a sense of humor, Happy Birthday! This is the day in 1978 that the anthropologist Margaret Mead stops living. He quotes are incredible. He’s two: “What people say, what people do, and what they say they do are entirely different things.” and “Always remember that you are absolutely unique. Just like everyone else.” So there you have another post for another day. Hope you make this day a good one. Abide.
