The earth is now in the time/space designated as July 20 2020. We’ve got two storms in the Atlantic which could become bigger and a massive asteroid (a 170 meter long rock designated as 2020ND) that is going to barely miss earth. Yes, things could get worse. I’m going to put those facts on the shelf and focus on today which happens to be Global Hug Your Kids Day, Moon Day, International Chess Day, Nap Day, National Ugly Truck Contest Day, National Lollipop Day and Fortune Cookie Day. I will celebrate today with a nap or two. Now the footnotes: On this day in 1712 The Riot Act takes effect in Great Britain. It was made illegal for more than 12 people to gather and gave local authorities the power to disperse groups larger than that. On this day in 1894 2000 fed troops recalled from Chicago, having ended Pullman strike. The country was in a depression and this strike had shut down much of the countries rail system. The Pullman Company made rail cars and had cut workers pay by 25%. This event is what created Labor Day. Finally, in 1932 on this day In Washington, D.C., police fire tear gas on World War I veterans attempting to march to the White House in protest. It seems that protests have always been with us. This is the birthday (356 BC) of Alexander the Great who said, “I am not afraid of an army of lions led by a sheep; I am afraid of an army of sheep led by a lion.” This is the day in 1973 that Bruce Lee stopped living at the age of 32. Bruce said, “The key to immortality is first living a life worth remembering.” I think Bruce did that. Now it’s time to jump into this day. Be safe. Wear the mask and Abide, which means to accept life as it is.
