We’re halfway through the month of July 2020. It’s the 15th day. I have a purpose in the first few sentences of these posts which is to remind you that life is short, our days are limited and each one should be treated with respect and gratitude. Each of us gets to live a life. What can be better than that? Today you can celebrate Gummi Worm Day, I Love Horses Day, Income Tax Pay Day (If you didn’t make any money, you wouldn’t have to pay taxes), National Be a Dork Day (you know who you are), Take Your Poet To Work Day and Orange Chicken Day. I’ll go with gummi worms just because. If you think you’ve got it rough, think about the fact that on this day in 1205 Pope Innocent III states Jews that Jews are doomed to perpetual servitude and subjugation due to crucifixion of Jesus. This is the day in 1870 that Georgia becomes the last confederate to be readmitted to US. On this day in 1932 US President Herbert Hoover cuts own salary 15%. He lost the election to FDR. In 1948 on this day Alcoholic Anonymous is founded in Britain. Lastly, this is the day in 1960 that Chubby Checker releases “The Twist”. He said, “We’re gonna do the twist and it starts like this”. This is the birthday (1913) of the Clive Cussler. He is an author. I enjoy his books. Clive said, “If it ain’t fun, it ain’t worth doing”. This is also the day in 1904 that the Anton Chekhov, Russian writer, stops living at the age of 44. He said, “Let us learn to appreciate there will be times when the trees will be bare, and look forward to the time when we may pick the fruit.” That’s wraps up my post for this day. Hope you can find a way to make it a good one for you and someone else. Abide.
